Project: Prepare task force report
Target Date: 22 Jul 2007
Task: Draft outline Jared Fortna and Mike LaBonte met March 26, 2007 to draft an outline. Mike will use this to prepare a draft report.
Task: Present draft report at public meetings Draft revision 1 shown at 19 April 2007 meeting, but not read in detail. Draft revision 3 reviewed in detail at 7 May 2007 meeting. Draft revision 4 reviewed in detail at 14 May 2007 meeting. Draft revision 5 reviewed in detail at 31 May 2007 meeting.
Task: Update report Draft revision 2 posted. Draft revision 5 posted 24 May 2007. Draft revision 6 posted 24 May 2007. Draft revision 7 posted 10 July 2007. Draft revision 8 posted 13 July 2007. Draft revision 9 posted 18 July 2007. Final report posted 22 Jul 2007.
Task: Deliver report to city officials Delivered to Mayor and City Council 24 Jul 2007.

Project: Recommend plan to improve energy performance of city buildings
Target Date: 22 Jul 2007
Task: Collect data on current energy use 25 Feb 2007 - FY2007 Energy budget spreadsheet obtained. Need actual kW-hr, gallon numbers for at least one recent year, plus square footage.
27 Apr 2007 - Received spreadsheet from City Auditor with energy expenses back to FY2004.
Task: Research types of contracts available Mike LaBonte attended DOER Performance Contracting Seminar in Worcester 26 Apr 2007.
Task: Research funding options Performance contracting is a turnkey solution - funding is handled as part of the contract.

Project: Recommend plan to install wind power for a city building
Target Date: 22 Jul 2007
Task: Research types of contracts available 7 Feb 2007 - Jared Fortna presented information on power purchase agreements.
Task: Research funding options 8 Apr 2007 - Ted Becker produced MTC wind site survey application documents, filled in as much as possible.
A power purchase agreement requires no funding from the city.
Task: Identify candidate wind generator sites 22 Feb 2007 - Sally Wright of RERL sent a TrueWind map of Haverhill, indicating that no site exceeds the 6.5 m/s average wind speed required for MTC funding.
Golden Hill is believed to be the best site due to combination of wind and presence of a public building.
Project: Recommend plan to use bio-diesel fuel for city diesel vehicles
Target Date: 22 Mar 2007
Task: Test bio-diesel fuel in one city vehicle 22 Jan 2007 - The Highway Department will identify one vehicle to refuel with bio-diesel in Newmarket, NH.
19 Apr 2007 - Recommendation to perform this test will be included in report.
Project: Host an energy information session for Haverhill citizens
Target Date: Aug 2007
Task: Identify topics 31 May 2007 - Topics will be short introduction to the task force, and education/signups for clean energy. Event name chosen is "Clean Energy & You".
Task: Identify one or more expert speakers 13 July 2007 - Speakers from Keyspan, Mass Energy, Clean Water Action identified.
Task: Identify a venue, schedule the event. 23 Apr 2007 - Mike LaBonte contacted NECC. 31 May 2007 - we chose the library. 8 June 2007 - Kathy LaRoque reserved the Johnson Auditorium at the Haverhill Public Library for an event 16 August 2007.
Task: Promote the event. 23 Jul 2007 - web page created. 24 Jul 2007 - Kathy LaRoque and Mike LaBonte have contacted newspapers and Haverhill Community TV. Two Haverhill Gazette article on the event. Included in Eagle Tribune calendar section. Promoted in a Haverhill Environmental League mailing and Universalist Unitarian Church newsletter.
Task: Conduct the event. 16 Aug 2007 - Event held. See the web page for information and downloadable presentations.
